For centuries LGBTQ people have been prosecuted and victims to hate that took on its most violent forms and brutal behavior. They have been outed, humiliated, beaten, tortured, and killed. To this day the violence has not ceased. However, here at Benito Juarez, it is duly noted that its LGBTQ students and staff are welcomed with open arms. Juarez is a sanctuary from all the hate, harm, and prosecution. The LGBTQ community is made comfortable and provided a home where we can be ourselves, express themselves, and join the fight against anti-LGBTQ hate knowing there are many supporters behind them. The LGBTQ Committee meets Thursdays after school in room 275. Open to all LGBTQ persons and their allies.
