It all began in London during the early 1980’s.The term gained popularity during graffiti art boom. The graffiti art boom was an era when street art was exposed. This term (street art) continues to be applied to successive manifestation. Taggers like Mode 2 created this type of art in public locations.

Mode 2 was a famous tagger who renowned a graffiti crew (Chrome Angelz.) According to Timeout ,Mode 2 realized that the more graffiti crews there was the more the violence increased. The purpose of graffiti art is self-expression and creativity. Most artists try to strive to improve their art. In New York Keith Haring was a professionally- trained artist who adopted a graffiti style. His art is widely recognized.

In the late 90’s a new form of graffiti started rising (post- graffiti.) The artist began using stencils, posters, stickers and installations. Banksy was an emerging artist of this well-known movement.
